Florice Hoffman

Florice Hoffman received her B.A. from the Brandeis University in 1980. She is received her J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law in 1984. Florice Hoffman received the American jurisprudence award for labor law. In law school,  she was president of the Student Bar Association and chair of the National Lawyers Guild Chapter.

Ms. Hoffman has over 30 years of labor law experience representing private and public sector unions in administrative proceedings, collective bargaining, arbitrations, and state and federal litigation. In addition, Florice Hoffman has successfully represented clients before the California Labor Commissioner involving wage and hour claims, CFMLA, meal and rest periods and in state court class action litigation.

Florice Hoffman is admitted to practice before all California State Courts as well as all Federal District Courts in California and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar’s Labor, Employment Section, the AFL-CIO’s Lawyers Coordinating Committee (“LCC”) and an officer of the Orange County labor and Employment Relations Association (“OCLERA”).

Although, Florice Hoffman career has been dedicated to the representation of working people through their chosen bargaining representatives; representing employees in wage and hour claims before the labor commissioner and in court, Florice Hoffman has years of experience in government advocacy. She is currently a leader in the California Democratic Party as a Regional Director and as the treasurer of the Democratic Party of Orange County central committee.

Florice Hoffman began her career in Los Angeles, California at the labor law firm Reich Adell & Crost before joining Pappy & Davis in 1985. Florice Hoffman was a partner in Wohlner Kaplon Phillips & Young from 1994 to 1999, where she handled all aspects of Union representation, including contract negotiations, arbitrations, and appearances before the National Labor Relations Board and PERB, as well as litigation in federal and state courts. She also represented employee benefit plans.

In January 1999, Florice Hoffman founded her own labor law firm, the Law Office of Florice Hoffman, L.C. where she continues representing unions and working people. She represents unions in healthcare, public sector, transportation and distribution industries. Florice Hoffman expanded the firm’s practice and brings her expertise in employment matters to wage and hour claims misclassification cases.  

Florice Hoffman has also uses her expertise in government and legislation to assist her clients in the legislative area. Recently, Florice Hoffman successfully advocating for amending the California Public Employees Relations Board (“PERB”) to include the Orange County Transportation Authority (“OCTA”) in AB 355 which Governor Newsom signed on October 11, 2019. Florice Hoffman also serves as an elected member of the Democratic Party of Orange County Central Committee (“DPOC”), as the treasurer of the DPOC and as the Regional Director for Region 17 of the California Democratic Party.

Florice Hoffman has received numerous awards including the Samuel Gompers Labor Award from the Democratic Party of Orange County and the Solidarity Leadership Award from the Orange County Federation of Labor.  She has also taught labor law as an adjunct professor at the Labor Center at the Los Angeles Trade Technical College-Los Angeles Community College District.
